Our Story of Hope and Service

Greensboro holds the heart of Donnell and Natasha Charlton's story - along with their son, Jaleil Charlton, forming three visionaries whose journey began with a love for family gatherings and a commitment to bring neighbors together around the table. As the proud owners of A'Leurer, they saw firsthand how food could spark laughter, connection, and care in the community. Yet, they also witnessed too many families facing empty cupboards, young people needing opportunities, and friends carrying unseen burdens. This inspired a choice that went deeper than good hospitality; the Charltons channeled their hopes into founding A'Leurer Cares.
Rooted in the spirit of Greensboro, Donnell, Natasha, and Jaleil believe every meal prepared, every hand extended, and every lesson shared can bring lasting change. Their journey from restaurant entrepreneurs to community leaders unfolded as they listened to stories of hunger, job struggles, and the realities of living without support. Guided by values shaped in their own family, they built A'Leurer Cares on three pillars: fighting food insecurity with nourishing meals, growing future leaders through workforce mentorship, and nurturing emotional wellness for all. Their mission is about offering more than help - it is about paving pathways for dignity and hope. Through genuine relationships, hands-on service, and investing in the next generation, the Charlton family invites everyone to be part of their story - one rooted in unity, perseverance, and a belief that together, Greensboro can flourish for years to come.
